Mary Ryder Home is dedicated to serving the fastest
growing segment of the elderly population: Seniors, struggling
in poverty, who can no longer live independently. Many
of our Residents have spent their lives struggling in poverty
and have not benefited from preventive healthcare. They tend to
be more frail, suffer a higher incidence of chronic health conditions
and psychological/social behavior disorders. We know that social
support—especially for Seniors—is a human necessity;
people who are socially isolated, without meaningful relationships
and activities, are at an increased risk for physical deterioration,
mental illness, and even death.
Our programs focus on the “whole” person, providing
opportunities that promote healthy aging, are positive, enriching
and improve their overall physical and mental health-related quality
of life. Older adults often face a multitude of changes and stresses
in relation to the aging process. At Mary Ryder Home, our programs
and services all focus on helping our Residents deal with these
changes.
